About the Project
The Rural Energy Resilience project, part of the V2X Innovation Programme, was funded by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and delivered by Innovate UK. V2X was part of the up to £65 million Flexibility Innovation Programme within the £1 billion DESNZ Net Zero Innovation Portfolio.
The project was exploring new vehicle-to-grid and energy-management technologies. It aimed to reduce energy bills, offer energy resilience to community buildings, and improve mobility for rural residents.
There were endless possibilities for rural communities as they embraced the shift towards Net Zero to not only enhance their energy resilience but also improve their mobility options. The Rural Energy Resilience project was building on previous IUK projects to connect rural car clubs, community buildings, local renewable energy sources, and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs)
